I think that the mentor is Leslie because , she always had given him advice and tips. Leslie taught Jess how to face the real world like when Jess told her about his sisters and how he wouldn't tell his family, and his dad that he drew, leslie told him that they needed a place just for them, which is when they made Terabithia.
I think that the hero is Jess because the starting of the book when all the boys & Jess were running at the school yard during lunch, Gary starts making fun of Leslie and then Jess stood up and tells Gary that Leslie should race and that if he says no it would probably be because he thinks that maybe a girl will beat him at racing.
I think that the shadow is Jess because he is always doubting himself, and doesn't believe in himself. he's always saying that he is not good enough to impress his dad and stuff, and that he is ashamed to tell people that he draws because he thinks that they'll make fun of him.
I think the shape shifter is May Belle. she always look up to Jess and listens to him but only when she gets her way, when she doesn't she'll sometimes threaten to tell his mom that he runs in the morning or that him and Leslie go to Terabithia like when him and Leslie were going to create Terabithia they told her that they were going somewhere and that she couldn't come and she said that she was going to tell his mom, but when they gave her paper dolls she just ran back home so she could play with them.
